Zonta London II Club at SafeHands
We were thrilled to host the Zonta London II club for a private screening of our newest film Hibo’s Story. The public premiere of the film will be in October, but our Founder Director, Nancy Durrell McKenna, was grateful for the opportunity to host the club’s monthly meeting and share her work with the group she’s been part of for the past 15 years.
Hibo’s story sees Hibo Wardere, SafeHands Ambassador and anti-FGM campaigner, speak about her experiences being cut as a young girl, the emotional turmoil it caused as she searched for the justification behind it, and her drive to become a campaigner to raise awareness and end FGM in Britain today. After the screening, Hibo spoke further about her work now. “My trauma was a blessing in disguise. Because of it, I can speak about my trauma and save other girls from being cut.’
I can speak about my trauma and save other girls from being cut.’
- HIBO WARDERE
Hibo is an absolutely an inspiration and we are proud that she has trusted SafeHands to tell her story.
Overall, the evening was a fantastic opportunity to share Hibo’s work and meet more members of the Zonta London II club. They were the perfect group of women to share our newest film, a group of women come together to empower each other and women around the world.
Thank you to everyone who joined, and to the Zonta London II club for sharing the evening with us.
