Let’s Talk Safe Sex: SafeHands and Reproductive Health Uganda working in partnership

SafeHands is delighted to welcome a new strategic partnership with Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU), one of Uganda’s key champions for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Over the next four years, SafeHands and RHU will work in partnership to put information into the hands of young women and men to make full, free and informed decisions when they decide the time is right to have sex.  Working closely with RHU’s Youth Action Movement (YAM), we will support thousands of youth volunteers poised around the country to provide critical SRHR information to their peers and communities.  We will do this by implementing innovative solutions, through film, participatory photography and a SMS mobile text service, so young people can get the accurate information to make the right decisions for themselves.

SafeHands Assistant Director, Erica Belanger, celebrated this partnership. She said “We are humbled to be working with one of Uganda’s largest SRHR service providers, RHU. Mobile technology holds so much potential to ensure young people’s universal access to reliable, safe and non-judgemental SRHR information – not just in Uganda but around the world. ”

RHU said “At Reproductive Health Uganda, we are thrilled by this new partnership with SafeHands. This brings a unique approach to reaching out to millions of young people with the most needed sexual reproductive health information. We are looking forward to an exciting partnership.”
