HELP ENSURE NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND

In Wag Hemra, Ethiopia, over 30,000 women and girls do not have access to contraception.

70,000 people, forcibly displaced by conflict, arrived in Wag Hemra, Ethiopia looking for safety. In the Internally Displaced People's (IDP) Camps, people sleep in small makeshift tents or on the floor of an old school. The local health system cannot cope, and basic healthcare is unavailable.

Here, women and girls are unable to access the contraception they want and need. Many are forced to continue with pregnancies they do not want, leading to a cascade of health problems: unintended pregnancies, maternal deaths, complications from unsafe abortion and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Will you help us transform lives?

We aim to raise £11,000 to improve access to contraception for 30,000 women and girls living in Wag Hemra’s four IDP camps through:

  • Delivering mobile clinics and access to a range of contraceptive options

  • Providing counselling and information on contraception, safe motherhood, STIs and HIV

  • Ensuring support for women affected by gender-based violence.

Our work will be a lifeline for displaced women and girls - who are under-served and overlooked. Access to contraception will enable them to make full, free and informed decisions over their bodies and lives.
